Don’t let the rainbow turn murky

After years of persuasion, my parents agreed to accept my love for my boyfriend.

John and I got engaged today, both wearing our best suits and ties, and our best smiles. After that, John pulled me away to party at one of the best gay clubs in town.

We drank and danced the whole night, free from all the burden of hiding our sexuality from our families.

One moment we were sitting and planning the date for our wedding.

Next moment, my fiancé lay on my lap, a gunshot on his forehead, his excited smile etched on his lips forever.

I never believed love was a sin until that sight.

The above is a work of fiction, but isn’t too far from the truth. 49 were killed at a gay nightclub in Florida as a man decided to go loose with the gun because of his homophobia.

Till when would people have a problem with other people’s choices? Why can’t we all just live and let live?

Rainbow colours turned murky as they were splashed with red that night. But do not let go. The power of love can climb over the highest mountains in the world.

Love all you can.

  1. Life is not always fair to us and we must cherish every moment we have with our love ones. I would beg to differ that love is a sin. Loving other people or being loved is in our nature and theres not any reason to stop doing that. Stay strong, pal, stay strong.

I agree with you. Love has never been and can never be a sin. I am glad that you see that too 🙂
