Eyes swimming in tears of melancholy,
Nose pierced through by social suppression.
She is yellow hope,
She is peaceful purple.
Pupils opening into dreams of the future,
Hair flying all over, reaching up, roots unforgotten.
She is firm resolve, coloured with faith and serenity
She is what she wants to be.
For all the women who are still fighting for basic rights out there, this is for you.
Nobody can make you do anything that you don’t want to. You are not incapable, you are not less, you are not just somebody’s wife.
Chin up, look them in the eye, they have no right make you hide behind your saree’s veil.
Hope this reaches out in some way to all those women scared to break through the walls. They are who need our support, not the women who didn’t get to sit in the ladies reserved seat in the bus this morning.
